Haitian Flag Day | One Hope for Haiti

May 17, 2015

Yesterday three of my former and current students performed the Haitian folkloric dances Yanvalou, Ibo, and Rara at a fundraising picnic for the local organization One Hope for Haiti who direct a K-10 school in Bon Repos, Haiti. This was the first opportunity we've had to connect with the local Haitian community here in Hampton Roads, Virginia and while we relished the opportunity to share the dances with an understanding audience, we began making contacts that will endure with members of the organization and the community.
